Having started out in heavy haulage alongside mulch, and wood rock separating, On-Site Screeners expanded into contract crushing around 2024. But their profitability was restricted by their legacy machinery, so they needed to upgrade their equipment to be more productive. That’s when they turned to Powerscreen of Washington.
Since 2004, On-Site Screeners has been supporting Oregon’s businesses with heavy haul machinery and quality recycled wood materials. Based in Central Point, Oregon, the team are always looking for ways to diversify their business and boost their profits, two years ago they decided to try their hand at contract rock crushing and screening.
Working with other dealers, they struggled to reach the production levels they wanted to achieve from the machinery and were getting minimal technical support. So when they turned to Powerscreen of Washington, they were clear about their goals.
“Maximizing throughput and high yields were our two priorities,” says Earl Johnson, Co-Owner for On-Site Screeners. “With our previous machines, we couldn’t quote for new work because they couldn’t process enough material. Now we’ve upgraded to Powerscreen equipment, we’re considering making contract crushing the main focus for our business.”
High production machines
The On-Site Screeners team already had experience with Powerscreen of Washington as a dealer, having rented a Komptech Multistar XL3 star screen from them back in 2013. Impressed by this performance, they then went on to purchase Powerscreen conveyors. However, when it came to choosing crushing machinery, the decision wasn’t quite as straightforward.
Earl explains, “Powerscreen wasn’t the cheapest option when we looked to rent this equipment, so we didn’t go with them straight away. However, now we’re using this setup and have seen its reliability and throughput, plus the service from the team, we know we’ve made the right decision in the end.”
Their contract crushing setup now includes a Powerscreen Premiertrak 400X jaw crusher and Powerscreen 1300X Maxtrak cone crusher. Designed for various heavy-duty operations, this equipment combines efficient performance, portability and reliability. Exactly what the On-Site Screeners team needs to maintain their reputation for effective, on-time delivery.
The Premiertrak 400X jaw crusher is powerful and can maintain good levels of throughput thanks to its high-capacity single toggle jaw chamber and wear-resistant feed hopper. Features such as a hydraulic release system and a self-cleaning grizzly feeder also support this productivity in demanding quarry environments.
A crusher overload protection system prevents machine damage from hard materials, while the hydraulic setting adjustment allows operators to take total control over the final product size. The track mobility also makes it easy for teams to set up when they arrive on site, sometimes in as little as 30 minutes.
Similarly, the Powerscreen 1300X Maxtrak cone crusher has a tracked design and a hydraulic system which makes it easy to transport and set up on different customer sites. The proven Terex cone design and Automax crusher technology means it can achieve excellent throughput and reduction ratios on the toughest materials.
Dan Bianchini, Sales Manager for Powerscreen of Washington, explains why he recommended these machines: “On-Site Screeners needed a crushing spread that could be set up quickly to meet their production target and deliver reliable results from day one. The 400X and 1300 are a proven combination that provides the throughput they needed.”
Top-class support
After previous experiences with other dealers, the high levels of support that Powerscreen of Washington offered has turned On-Site Screeners’ contract crushing from a speculation to a legitimate, profitable service line. While the machines have boosted production, the servicing backup has helped the business maintain its reputation.
As Earl explains, “Powerscreen of Washington has been the best in terms of service, reliability, and parts. The production we are seeing since renting these units has been great. We plan to continue renting with their dealership in the future.”
